Mailing Your Wedding Invitations

I recommend that you take your invitations to the post office to be hand cancelled. This is the way to avoid the machine tracks and stamps and stickers that result from automatic cancelling, and your guests will receive a cleaner, more elegant invitation.

As life speeds up, hand-cancelled invitations have become a little more difficult to accomplish. There may be an additional fee for hand cancelling. Or a postal clerk may refuse to hand cancel your invitations but allow you to hand cancel them yourself. I have found that smaller post offices are more willing to take the time to hand cancel your invitations. A rural post office, if you have one not too far away, is a very good bet.
